I wanted to provide some feedback after a few days of practice in the field with our new Influence Coaching model. As a coach, I consistently ask myself if I am leaving the person that I am coaching better than I found them. What impact did my conversation have on this person's development? I am 100% certain that our time together will positively impact this person's development.
I really like this module since it gets us thinking about how to open up other people’s thinking. I know someone who just bought a house. Initially his wife didn’t like the house, probably because it had an ugly linoleum floor in the kitchen. He said to her “Imagine if we put a nice new floor in the kitchen…how great it would look.” That statement, “Imagine if…” is what changed her thinking. We deal with customers all the time where all we need to do is get past their initial perception and get them to think “Imagine if…” (e.g. an Influence question).
